In the little town of Varzo in Divedro Valley at the border with Switzerland, autumn is Scaria season, the descent of the town’s iconic animal, the donkey, from the alpine pastures. The two days of A scarium, which takes place in the old town centre of this ancient village, feature a varied programme of events and fun activities. Donkey shows and parades are the key attraction of the festival for children, who can det closer to these friendly animals. As one of the food festivals on the SagreOssola calendar, A Scarium also showcases the typical flavours of the area, with culinary delights tied to authentic, long-standing traditions, to the accompaniment of folk songs and mountain music.
