Ossola in Cantina, a new event among those organized in Ossola Valley, is a valuable occasion to discover and taste the Ossolan excellent wine productions wisely combined with typical products. Born in 2019, thanks to an idea of Ossola Valley branch of Slow Food and organized by Associazione Produttori Agricoli Ossolani in collaboration with AIS VCO (Italian Sommelier Association), Ossola in Cantina is a guided tour among the eight Ossolan cellars along which you can meet producers and vine varieties and, especially, you can taste wines ranging from cool Chardonnay to Prünent, from Nebbiolo to Merlot and to a surprising Passito.
Ossola in Cantina
Some of the Ossola Valley vineyards are heroic, equal to the most renowned in Valtellina, Liguria and in the nearby Swiss canton of Valais; heroic because vineyards of Prünent, rare, ancient and traditional Nebbiolo of Ossola, and those of Chardonnay and Merlot are placed on lands with important slopes and at mid-mountain. Today the old terracings, which during ages modelled the mountains of Ossola Valley, host again high quality productions thanks to passion and expertise of local vine growers. From 2009 the “Valli Ossolane” DOC certification contributed to a further relaunch of km0 production, which the public can appreciate together with the offers of Ossola in Cantina.
