Two hamlets: the low one Cosa and the high one Cosasca, make up a town that hides a history in which faith and agricultural life are inextricably linked. The village was built around an ancient watch tower used since Roman times.
Description
From the bus stop in Cosasca, take Via Rosmini and once you reach the church follow Via Marconi until you get back onto the provincial road. Continue north until you reach Via Bellini, following it as far as the bridge, from which you can admire a waterfall. From here, an interesting ascent begins along a path made up of steps carved into the rock. Once you reach a chapel, leave the path that climbs to the right and take the one that, through two hamlets, reaches the village of Cà Burtulina and then the church of the main village of Cosasca. After coming across a group of renovated chalets you reach the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grucce, dating back to 1648. Then, returning to the church along a comfortable mule track, you reach the Church of San Lorenzo al Pozzo. From the church square, the mule track descends to the right to a chapel and, after crossing a new dirt road, continues to a chapel on the old mule track that climbed from Mergozzo to the Alpine passes of Ossola. Turning right, you reach the church square in Cosa, while on the left you reach the village of Quarata where, in addition to the old houses, you can admire the chapel of Santa Marta.
