The Crevoladossola Museum of Religious Architecture, set up in 2008 and housed in the old parish house, illustrates the historical-artistic development of religious architecture in the Ossola area and gives more detailed information on the historical and artistic background of the splendid Church of San Pietro and San Paolo in Crevoladossola.
The exhibits are characterised by a wide variety of subjects and display choices, intended to encourage visitors to play an active role. The Crevoladossola Museum of Religious Architecture is distributed on two floors, and divided into three sections: history of religious architecture, the church and the territory. The first section offers a 3D film devoted to places of worship: it is an interesting journey through the history of architecture by images, following the development of the styles of most representative religious buildings in the Ossola Valley.
The first floor develops the relationship between the Church of San Pietro and San Paolo and the territory of Crevoladossola which, due to its strategic position, at the convergence of the Antigorio Valley with the Divedro Valley, was extremely important in the history of the Ossola Valley, especially as a nerve centre for the road system towards Northern Europe.
The rooms devoted to the Church of Crevoladossola reconstruct, with words, images and objects, the most representative elements of religious buildings. The events linked to the construction of the church have been deduced by observing the walls and the initial phases of building, incorporating studies previously conducted.
