Tempo di migrar
Period
SEPTEMBER

“Tempo di migrar” (“Time to migrate”) is a traditional event tied to the shepherding of over 3,000 sheep from the pastures, and takes place every year in early autumn in the hamlet of Cadarese in Premia, in Antigorio Valley. Shepherds herd their sheep and lambs away from the summer alpine pastures back to the plain. This ancient custom of transhumance has been celebrated by “Tempo di Migrar” since 2004, which pays tribute to a secular tradition deeply rooted in these mountain lands.
The event is both fascinating and informative, featuring demonstrations of wool and felt processing, brushing and carding, sheep shearing and exhibitions of craft artefacts.
Visitors can also try and buy sheep cheese and cured cuts, as well as delicious typical dishes made with local ingredients in the restaurants and taverns in the area, which put on special themed menus every year.
